Step 1: Prepare the Bike

  • Turn off the bike and remove the battery completely.
  • Press and hold the power button on the display to discharge remaining energy.
  • If you don’t have a bike stand, gently flip the bike upside down onto a soft towel or blanket to protect the grips and display.

Step 2: Unplug the Motor

  • Use snips or clippers to cut the zip ties holding the motor cable to the frame.
  • Locate the motor plug and gently disconnect it. Align the arrows when pulling apart to avoid damage.

Step 3: Loosen the Rear Wheel

  • Use a wrench to loosen the bolts on each side of the axle.
  • Remove the nut and washer, sliding them down the motor cable.
  • Slide the derailleur guard down the same cable.

Step 4: Remove the Rear Wheel

  • Make sure the locking spacers are clear (a flathead screwdriver can help).
  • Carefully move the derailleur out of the way and guide the wheel down out of the frame dropouts.

Step 5: Reinstall the Wheel

  • Align the wheel under the frame, making sure the chain loops properly over the cassette.
  • Slide the axle into the dropouts and ensure the locking spacers are oriented correctly.
  • On the motor cable, reattach the derailleur guard, washer, and nut in that order.

Step 6: Secure the Rear Wheel

  • Tighten the nuts on both sides of the axle evenly and firmly.
  • Double-check alignment of the derailleur, chain, and spacers before final tightening.

Step 7: Reconnect the Motor

  • Plug the motor cable back in, aligning the arrows for a secure fit.
  • Attach new zip ties to keep the cable neatly secured to the frame.
